Lenders on the other hand know the business of lending (and are much more familiar with FCA regulation) but they do not always understand the intricacies of the underlying product market. It is almost like the retailer and the lender speak two different languages.
Our role is to assist the retailer to get the best out of the lender relationship both in relation to commercial terms but also in relation to customer journey as that is vital for the ultimate consumer buying the retailer’s goods.
Background
When he took on that role he also noted that the level of knowledge of finance in the retailer was so limited that it meant finance was not nearly as effective as it could be. He also found that while lenders wanted to help they tended to look at everything from their viewpoint and were not close enough to the underlying product customer journey to be able to offer much useful insight.
